Department IM/EAM Product Development, Enterprise Solutions Job Purpose To be a member of the IM/EAM Product Development Team based in Hyderabad. The technical writer is responsible for providing comprehensive, high-quality user documentation and help files for AVEVA Enterprise Solutions IM/EAM product software deliveries. Principal Accountabilities • Responsible for writing procedures, creating process flowcharts, and maintaining online documentation for technical and non-technical audiences (including user manuals, system administration manuals, technical training materials, functional specifications, and test plans) • Apply technical writing skills to edit, review, and develop operating procedures, and methods of procedure documentation. • Convert design specifications to user documents (User documents are periodically delivered to the customers). • Restructuring, upgrading and enhancing existing content. • Develop knowledge bases and assist in maintaining them. Wiki knowledge is a plus. • Work collaboratively with various technical disciplines; develop documentation that satisfies its intended purpose, within schedule and budget limitations. • Identify inconsistencies and deviations from language rules and guidelines. • Research and understand software systems, as well as technical procedures and effectively communicate this information to a non-technical audience. • Take part in peer reviews of other technical authors work. • Ensure compliance with documentation processes and standards. • Develop and publish content • Various documentation administrative tasks • Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives for documentation deliverables and processes • Other duties as assigned by client or MILESTONE management. Important Working Relationships • Excellent interview and follow through skills, coupled with strong organizational skills and solid communication and interpersonal skills. • Work closely with other members of the team, project managers, and members of the development and test teams. • Support the Programme Management team. • Maintain strong working relationships with peers. Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required • A degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline or the equivalent level of experience gained in industry. • An engineering degree and/or experience is a plus, as is experience in the Marine, Plant, Gas and Oil industries. • Proven track record with at least two years’ experience as a technical writing. • Advanced competence in the use of authoring tools, such as, Adobe Technical Communication Suite (incl. Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe RoboHelp, Adobe Captivate) SnagIT, and other Microsoft Tools • Competence in XML, HTML. • Experience working with JIRA and Tortoise SVN. • Proven ability in a similar product domain is a plus.
